Frequently Asked Questions

What enhancements will this project provide in this area?

This work is designed to significantly improve safety, traffic flow, and uninterrupted access to and from the Orlando International Airport (OIA) and the surrounding area. The SR 528/SR 436 interchange improvement is considered a signature project because it is an essential step in CFX’s long-term plan to strengthen Central Florida’s regional transportation network. Additionally, this location serves as the entrance point for millions of visitors to the Central Florida region. Well-designed aesthetics and high-impact landscaping incorporating native plants will be used to welcome our visitors. A fly-over video of the project can be found here.

Will there be road and ramp closures associated with the construction of this project?

Periodic road and ramp closures are necessary to accommodate construction of the interchange improvement project. Ramp and road closure alerts can be found here. Please contact Kathy Putnam at Construction@CFXway.com if you would like to be put on the email list to receive weekly construction alerts.

When will the project be completed?

The project is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2023.

How will this project ease traffic congestion in the area?

The project is reconfiguring the interchange by replacing two existing loop ramps (one from southbound SR 436/Semoran Boulevard to eastbound SR 528/Beachline Expressway; the other from northbound SR 436 to westbound SR 528) with new fly-over bridges to provide smoother, uninterrupted access between SR 528 and SR 436. CFX is also adding another travel lane in each direction of SR 528 between Conway Road and Goldenrod Road to ease congestion through this busy interchange.

Who should I contact if I have questions about this project?
